Easter 2013 Newsletter

The Committee were elected at the last AGM in May 2012. Since then we have gained Charity Commission status (which will open some streams of grants to us) and started some local fundraising and community events. The fund raising events have included pub quizes and a fete and some new events are planned for 2013.

Purbeck Shooting School: We were very fortunate to be chosen as one of the school’s charities of 2012 and the Chairman Ady Pitman received a cheque for £500 in January for which we were extremely grateful.

Site for the new Village Hall. Mr Bond has agreed to let us use the old village hall site again (located next to the old church) and so fundraising from Charitable Trusts has now started in earnest.

Pub Quizes

There have been two pub quizes held at the Stokeford Inn in Novemeber and January. A total of £203 was raised at these two events. Many thanks go to the excellent quiz master Martyn Lobb, Gillian Topp the star raffle organiser and to the owners for letting us use their pub. The next Pub Quiz will be held on April 24th at 7pm at the Stokeford Inn (see Parish noticeboard for details).

Dog Show and racing May 26th 2013. This new exciting event will be held on Mill Paddock field between 2pm – 5pm. There will be a dog show, races and food stall and refreshments  available. A website will be opened so that entry forms for the events can be downloaded – so keep a look out at the noticeboards! Please bring a picnic and join in with the rest of the community in these celebrations. There will be a competition with prizes for the best head dress/crown for both children and adults.
